ECOAN TEAM Constantino Aucca Chutas (Ecology and Ornithology). Tino is
the nickname of Constantino, who has a degree in Biology
from the University of San Antonio Abad of Cusco. He
speaks English and Quechua as well as Spanish. Tino has
worked on many scientific projects, such as: BIOTROP -
University of Kansas (1993); field expeditions of Dr.
Jon Fjeldsa - University of Copenhagen (1989-2004);
projects concerned with conserving the remaining high
Andean forests; expeditions of the Smithsonian Institute
(1997-2000) and National Geographic (2000); and the
Impact on the Environment study conducted by the country
of Peru. Tino is the Peruvian representative of the
Neotropical Bird Club. He is well acquainted with the
Quechua customs, medicinal plants, and ornithological
communities of the high Andes. One of the most
experienced guides of Manu, he also has studied
extensively the Giant River Nutria there. In 2004, he
was invited by the University of Plymouth, England, to
be an Honorary Investigator. For the past five years, he
has been leading ECOAN, working extensively with the

Gregorio completed his studies in the department of Biological Sciences at San Antonio Abad University of Cusco. He is currently involved in the investigation of the avian population of the Polylepis forests of southern Perú, and in the study of Cinclodes palliatus (White-bellied Cinclodes) in central Perú. He has excellent knowledge of the avifauna of Perú and Bolivia, having participated in and collaborated on ornithological investigations with many scientists, and having guided birding groups in Perú for many years. He is currently the principal investigator in the area of Ornithology at ECOAN, while also working as a guide for a birding company. email: goyofm@ecoanperu.org
Efrain Samochuallpa Solis (Botany and Ecology). Efrain completed his studies of Biology in the department of Biological Sciences at San Antonio Abad University of Cusco (UNSAAC), worked on the Municipal Forestation Program, "A Million Trees for Cusco…A Million Trees for Life," and afterwards worked on the Andean Basins Environmental Education Project of the INCA association. He is currently completing a masters degree in Environmental Planning and Management at the Catholic University of Santa Maria, Arequipa.
