Constantino Aucca Chutas
Ecology and
Ornithology
Constantino (Tino) holds a degree in Biology from
the Universidad Nacional San Antonio Abad del Cusco,
and is trilingual in Spanish, Quechua and English.
He is known for his has extensive knowledge of
quechua customs, medicinal plants and High Andean
bird communities. Tino has participated in many
scientific expeditions, including BIOTROP -
University of Kansas (1993) and various research
expeditions of Jon Fjeldsa 1998-2004 (University of
Copenhagen). He assisted with field expeditions of
the Smithsonian Institution (1997-2000) and National
Geographic (2000), and has participated in
Environmental Impact Assesments in Peru. Tino is the
Peruvian representative for the Neotropical Bird
Club. He has experience as an ecotourist guide in
Manu, where he has also studied Giant Otters. In
2004, he was invited as an Honorary Investigator by
the University of Plymouth in England. Currently, he
is capably managing Asociación Ecosistemas Andinos,
working extensively with the American Bird
Conservancy - ABC.

Gregorio Ferro Meza
Ornithology
Gregorio (Goyo) studied at the
Universidad Nacional San Antonio Abad del Cusco, and
is currently investigating the bird communities
associated with Polylepis forests in southern
Peru and the White-bellied Cinclodes (Cinclodes
pileatus) in central Peru. Goyo has travelled
throughout Peru and Bolivia observing birds,
including his participation in scientific
expeditions. He has also travelled as a birdwatching
guide for the past several years. Currently he
is the main ornithologist on staff with ECOAN and
guides birding tours.

Efraín
Samochuallpa Solis
Botany and
Ecology
Efraín studied biology at the
Universidad Nacional San Antonio Abad del Cusco
before working with the municipal program "Un millón
de árboles para el Qosqo...un millón de árboles para
la vida," and with Asociación INCA as part of the
Environmental Education in Andean Watersheds
Project. He is currently completing his master's
degree in Environmental Planning with the
Universidad Católica de Santa Maria - Arequipa. As
well as being active in field research, he plays the
role of treasurer with ECOAN.

Wily Palomino Condori
Botany and Ecology
A
graduate of the Universidad Nacional San Antonio
Abad del Cusco, most of Wily's research has been on
the dynamics and structure of High Andean, montane
and Amazonian forests. He was a guest researcher at
the Ökologisch Botanischer Garden der Universität
Bayreuth (ÖGB) in Germany, and is currently a
research associate with the Vargas Herbarium in
Cusco. He has participated in various courses
organized by the Organization for Tropical Studies
in Costa Rica and joined scientific expeditions in
northeast and southeast Peru. He was an
Environmental Consultant to the Water and
Environment Institute, Cusco, for socio-economic and
environmental diagnosing and the preparation of
thematic maps for the Economic-Ecologic Zoning of
Cusco Department. He is currently managing ECOAN's
operations in northern Peru.
